The FREE online tool to help parents find safe baby products and keep their children safe from toxic chemicals lurking in common baby products.
I know you want to protect your family from harmful chemicals.
And what’s more important than the precious new life you just brought into this big world?
There’s no shortage of products made especially for babies and new parents. Everything from shampoos and lotions, cribs and toys, travel gear and clothing…
It’s enough to make your head spin!
And if that wasn’t complicated enough, did you know that there are currently over 1,000 chemicals in children’s products that can negatively impact a child’s health and development?
One. Thousand.
So what’s a parent to do? How can we protect our children from these harmful chemicals without losing our minds or bubble-wrapping our kids until they’re 18?
What if there was a tool or a resource that helped us do this in a smart way, and still kept our sanity in tact?
The Safe Baby Products Guide IS That Tool!
I’m so excited to announce the launch of this invaluable tool to help parents and caregivers choose safe baby products for their children, and protect them from the toxins that can be lurking in common baby products.
The Safe Baby Products Guide is created by the Getting Ready for Baby Campaign, a non-profit coalition consisting of over 85 organizations calling for safer baby products. Organizations that I personally trust, like Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, Healthy Child Healthy World, MADE SAFE, and Women’s Voices for the Earth.
The guide is broken down into eight categories:
Each category includes some of the hidden chemical hazards that are commonly found in these products, along with recommendations for safer alternatives, and resources for further reading to help you make informed decisions when shopping for safe baby products.
There’s a useful glossary of hazards that defines the most common chemical hazards, and cross-references them with each product category.
How to Use the Safe Baby Products Guide
There are three different ways to use the guide:
- Get Specific – when you know exactly which product you want to learn more about.
- Build Your Knowledge Base – when you want a general idea of what to look out for.
- Build Your Gift Registry – when you’re ready to create a personalized list of the safe baby products you’re choosing for your registry. (Such a cool feature!)
Why I LOVE this guide!
If you’ve read my story, you know how overwhelmed and helpless I felt during my first pregnancy. The thought of exposing my precious new baby to chemicals I couldn’t even pronounce, let alone define? Really threw me for a loop.
I love that the Safe Baby Products Guide provides enough detail about each product without being too alarmist (so important!); and it gives practical advice and suggestions for families, regardless of where they are on their journey.
More importantly, I love that the guide is truly objective and not just a massive ad campaign. While they do make some recommendations for specific products, it’s fairly limited, and they’re only products certified by MADE SAFE.
The overwhelming vibe here is one of guidance. They’re not necessarily offering specific advice; they’re simply presenting the information and options for parents to consider when making decisions for their family.
Seriously, this guide is a lifesaver – I wish it was around when I was pregnant and having my babies!
Are you a new parent or know someone who’s expecting?
The Safe Baby Products Guide is hands down the greatest thing I’ve seen happen to the baby products market. Take a look for yourself and share it with your loved ones who are new parents or expecting their little bundle of joy. 🙂
Choosing safe baby products for your family shouldn’t be complicated or overwhelming. Parents deserve free access to easily accessible resources that help them protect their families from harmful chemicals.
Harmful chemicals aren’t great for anyone, but babies are especially susceptible to their negative effects. First, their tiny little bodies make them vulnerable; pound for pound, they are exposed to more contaminants than adults. Second, their immature metabolism and organ systems are less capable of fending off harmful chemicals. Third, babies spend a lot of time on the floor, where they’re more likely to inhale dust and particles. And last, the fact that babies put their hands, toys, and everything else in their mouths makes them more likely to ingest the chemicals to which they are exposed.

Hi, I love your blogs. I am new mommy myself and during my pregnancy I learned so much harmful stuff found in baby products. Since they i became conscious of everything my baby gets in touch with. i am using only organic products and handknit clothes for my baby from Soojin.com I am thinking of adopting organic lifestyle starting form with my baby
Hope other mommies too do the same and get rid of toxic products for good. Keep up the good work.
That’s great, Edna, and congrats on mommyhood!
