Although I’m a self-proclaimed coffee addict, there’s just something so special and comforting about curling up with a warm cup of herbal tea. Or pouring yourself a refreshing glass of iced tea during the hot summer months. And if you’re anything like me, you know that loose tea is where it’s at! It’s more fresh, it tastes better, and it doesn’t come with all of the questionable extras like tea bags.
But I still keep a stash of my favorite organic tea bags on hand so I can take my tea on the road; I can’t exactly steep loose tea in my travel mug unless I want to be picking tea leaves out of my teeth all day. Ewww…
And what about fruit and herb-infused water? I love making a big pitcher of this delicious water at home, but I can’t just add fruit to my water bottle and go – how do I keep the fruit in the water without it coming up in the water when I take a sip?
Enter the Libre tea glass – probably one of the most brilliant and simple inventions for tea lovers that I’ve seen in a long time.
Libre Tea Glass Review
The Libre tea glass has a very simple design; a glass interior keeps your hot drinks hot and your cold drinks cold, and a durable poly exterior provides a layer of protection.
But that’s not all – the brilliant part is the built-in stainless steel filter which allows you to steep your tea directly in the glass and sip it all day without worrying about those pesky tea leaves or pieces of fruit in the glass! The filter is removable for easy cleaning, and the glass can also be used without the filter if you don’t need it.
And this thing is so versatile too; in addition to hot tea, you can use it for iced tea, fruit-infused water, herbal infusions, and even coffee.
I’ve used it for all of the above, and it really does keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold. Just make sure if you’re using boiling water to let the steam dissipate a bit before covering your tea glass, otherwise it can get really, really hot! Ask me how I know… 😉
How to Use the Libre Tea Glass
The Libre tea glass comes apart in 3 pieces: the glass, the filter, and the lid. Each glass also comes with a spare silicone seal for the filter in case it gets lost or damaged. The whole thing washes very easily by hand; it’s actually recommended NOT to put it in the dishwasher (or microwave).
As for actually steeping your tea, there are two methods mentioned on Libre’s site. For loose teas or tea bags, you simply place the tea leaves or herbs directly in the glass, add your water, and you’re done. For teas with a limited steeping time, it’s a little different; you fill up the glass with water and put the filter on, place the tea/herbs in the filter, cap it, then flip it over to steep. Once steeping time is finished, simply remove the filter with the tea, and enjoy! You can watch a video tutorial here.
Possible Issues…
My biggest concern with any kind of travel mug or glass is the issue of leaks. I can’t tell you how may times I fall in love with a mug or glass only to find that it leaks, so this is a big deal for me. And I’m happy to report that in the 2 weeks that I’ve been using my Libre tea glass, it’s never leaked once!
I’ve heard of some people having issues with leaks or water getting stuck between the glass and poly, and although this hasn’t happened to me, I was very happy to see how quickly and graciously Libre’s customer service team responded to those issues on their website.

What’s your favorite way to unwind after a long day?
Hello, I am writing about the Libre Tea Bottle that I have. This is the second time I am writing about this issue. The first time I wrote, you sent me a new bottle free of charge and I was very appreciative to have this to be able to carry my tea to work. It has been about 9 months since then and again I am experiencing the same problem with my bottle. The top part where the lid screws on is very brown and dingy looking under the rubber portion. There is no way i can clean that without taking the bottle completely apart. Also the bottom has come unscrewed and I cannot keep it on unless I Crazy glue it. Have you made any improvements to the bottle??
