No, they don’t taste like burgers, but that didn’t stop us from eating them like they were burgers! Well, except for the fact that we didn’t have burger buns, so we ate them on toasted sandwich bread. But we dressed them up like real burgers, with ketchup, mayo, mustard, and topped with a bit of our dandelion salad – not bad, not bad at all!
I had been looking for ways to use dandelion flowers in a more substantial way than just sweet treats. Don’t get me wrong, I love sweet treats, but I really wanted to see if we could incorporate the flowers into our dinner, as opposed to just dessert. This post from Eat the Weeds was a God-send. Seriously, go check it out, he has a HUGE list of recipes I’d never seen before!
Two recipes stuck out to me right off the bat – these burgers and the Cream of Dandelion Soup recipe, which was also amazing! I did make a few alterations to spice things up a bit 😉 The original recipe also calls for double the flour, but I subbed half of it for oats and added a bread crumb/parmesan mix. Next time, I’ll definitely experiment with adding other things like beans, maybe some mashed sweet potatoes; it’s a very flexible base recipe for sure!
No, it doesn’t taste like a burger…not in the slightest, but it still eats like one, especially if you dress it up like one. And if it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, well, you know…it’s a burger! 🙂 We had these along with the Cream of Dandelion Soup and a dandelion salad. It was a great combination!

You just reminded me about this recipe! Now I can’t wait for the dandelions to sprout up around here so I can make these again! 🙂
Had dandelion burgers back in 6th grade on a nature outing. Decided to try it again. This recipe was amazing!
Oh my goodness, that’s awesome! Glad this recipe brought back some memories for you. 🙂
Do you think these could be baked in an oven?
I would definitely try it!
